Diabetes Can Be Cured - Some Scientists Agree

Can Diabetes Be Cured? yes-but it does not involve drugs and insulin shots. Diabetic drugs and insulin are a multi-billion dollar business, so the drug company lobbyists and drug salesman make every effort to hush up the fact that diabetes can be cure naturally-without costly medication. This article will lead you to some startling facts about how the public is being duped.

Diabetes Can Be Cured-Scientists Agree

Some call diabetes the "Silent Killer." Many people are pre-diabetic (borderline) and some have reached the chronic stage: Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes-and they don't even know it!

The American Diabetes Association says that 23.6 million adults and children (about 8% of the U.S. population has some form of diabetes.

An alarming 5.7 million people are undiagnosed diabetics, and 5.7 million are pre-diabetic.

For the most part, the medical community believes that diabetes is incurable, despite authenticated studies and testimonials showing that thousands of people around the world are free of all symptoms and are back to living normal lives.

So how can this be? If one person claims to be cured, if two or three claim to be cured, if hundreds claim to be cured by using natural processes-why isn't medical science paying attention?

The truth is that only a fraction of healthcare providers have accepted the fact that natural cures-instead of drugs and insulin injections-can, in fact, reverse diabetes. It's just taking forever to get the word out!

In my situation I have seen one good friend, a type 2 diabetic, develop congestive heart failure, kidney and liver complications. His slide down hill was rapid, and thank the Lord; the end came quickly for him.

Another family friend had one leg amputated as a result of poor blood circulation (a diabetic side-effect). He was awaiting a prosthetic leg when his medical team suggested that it may be necessary to amputate the other leg.

Closer to home, my wife was informed after a routine checkup that she was pre-diabetic. Well no way was this tough old gal going to live with that. God bless her, she went on a strict, low carbohydrate, no sugar diet, and began working out at the gym. In just three months her next blood sugar test-hemoglobin ALC reading had dropped from 6.8 to 6.0. 7.0 is considered chronic diabetes. An unexpected bonus is that she went from a dress size of 18 to a size 8!

Like I said if one person can do it or a thousand can do it, then why can't you? Well that depends on which column of statistics you want to be on.

Here are just a few natural tips that she is following:

Exercise regularly. If you can't get to a gym try a brisk walk several times each week.
Take two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar mixed in a glass of water. Flavor it if you wish-just don't use sugar.
Cinnamon is also thought to be helpful on correcting a number of ills. My wife is taking cinnamon capsules, but two teaspoons of the powder works too.
Cut way back on the carbs and eliminate sugar all together.

These tips are just the tip of the iceberg. A great deal more information is available. This could be some of the most valuable, live-saving information you'll come across. Follow the link below to get a real education on diabetes. Learn how many in the medical and healthcare field are appalled that it is taking the medical community so long to get with it! Drugs and injections of insulin are not a cure. The merely treat the symptoms.

What is Ganoderma Lucidum and Can This Herb Help Boost Your Immune System?

Would it not be amazing to live your life in full health, not having to worry about issues like weight, blood pressure, stress and so on? Is there a way for healthy weight loss? Without even going through all the trouble, like weight watchers, spending hours upon hours in the gym buying those expensive programs. Only to discover that you keep paying for them each month but you have lost your motivation?

What if there are natural remedies to boost your immune system, to have way more energy? Ever asked yourself why the chemically created pills most of the time do not work or work in a way that you need another pill to reduce the effect of the first one? Not too long ago I discovered something that goes by the name of Ganoderma Lucidum or Reishi (in Japan, known to the Chinese as Lingzhi). After doing research on this red mushroom, I am glad I found this herb, which in fact is known in Asia as "The King of Herbs".

What is Ganoderma Lucidum?

Ganoderma Lucidum or Reishi (in Japan), known to the Chinese as Lingzhi and Yeongji in Korea, is a red mushroom. Also known as 'The Herb of spiritual potency' or the '10,000 year mushroom'. Because of it's health benefits and absence of side effects it is considered to be the ultimate herbal mushroom.

It is hard to grow them in another climate then the tropics and it also takes knowledge of how to harvest them and understanding the process of using this herb to its full capacity. The mushroom itself tastes very bitter, not a motivation for many people to go and try it, although this medicinal mushroom can have huge health benefits for the human body.

The herb helps your body to be in balance. It has a wonderful effect on your body's organ functions especially the liver and the lungs (helps people with asthma and respiratory system problems). Ganoderma protects body from diseases as well as disorders. This magical mushroom is effective for all age groups, no exception.

Research

Scientific research has shown that this bitter tasting mushroom has a high percentage of the following four components (which will boost the immune system):

-organic germanium (this increases oxygen absorption on a cell level)
-triterpenes (builder, makes the digestive system, liver and heart muscles stronger)
-polysaccharides (cleanser, which enhances your natural healing ability. Also improves the functioning of the pancreas)
-Adenosine (regulator, controls cholesterol, balances hormones and endocrine and pH of your blood)

Conclusion

Ganoderma Lucidum is probably the most magical herb known to mankind so far. The natural ingredients in the herb have astonished many researchers but also people who started using this herb (infused in arabica coffee beans powder ) Increased vitality, energy levels and a real boost for the immune system.

Even though it is bitter of taste, once infused, with for example gourmet coffee (arabica beans with hardly any caffein in it), it tastes wonderful and gives heavy coffee drinkers a very healthy alternative too.

Being a heavy coffee drinker, I discovered the many benefits of drinking coffee infused with the Ganoderma Lucidum herb compared to drinking 'unhealthy' regular coffee. I have created a website called The Healthy Coffee Club check it out and come on over to have a healthy cup of coffee and a nice chat! Live healthier!

Reverse Diabetes - Use a Natural Cure

Diabetes struck very close to home for me. One family friend has suffered with diabetes for many years. He is now on dialysis, has had most of one leg removed and the other leg may have to come off too.

Another friend was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes several years ago but he largely ignored the condition. His weight topped out at over 350 pounds, yet on a daily basis he drank a liter or more of sugar loaded soft drinks. And there is no telling how many candy bars he consumed each day-along with a litany of other junk foods. He died from congestive heart failure, kidney and liver complications.

My own wife, God love her, was diagnosed with pre-diabetes (borderline). She-on the other hand-showed total commitment to conquer the problem. She began a very strict low carbohydrate diet, cut out sugar completely and works out regularly at the gym.

In just three months time her hemoglobin ALC test went from 6.8 (7.0 is chronic) to 6.0 blood glucose, and she shed over 50 pounds. She is now giving away her "fat clothes," size 18, as now she is wearing a size 8.

The biggest problem I see facing people with diabetes is that many doctors believe that drugs and insulin therapy is the only viable treatment. All of the major drug manufacturers agree with this premise.

But some members of the medical community recognize that natural cures have helped literally thousands of diabetics to reverse the disease. Drugs and insulin injections will not cure diabetes. They merely treat the symptoms. The problem is that the pancreas gland either stops making insulin, or curtails its production. Insulin is needed to convert carbohydrates-like sugar-into glucose, which supplies energy to our muscle and body tissues.

In more drastic cases the cells refuse to admit the glucose-bearing insulin, so the cells lack the energy they need to function.

Scientific studies prove that diabetes can and is being reversed every day. Microbiologists and medical researchers discovered that the major cause of diabetes and other life-threatening diseases is the lifestyle we in the Western World have adopted. People in undeveloped countries have far lower rates of heart disease, cancer...and diabetes. We have become what we eat.

If you or someone close to you has been diagnosed with any form of diabetes, this is to assure you that it can be reversed. My wife is a living testimonial to this. She joins thousands of other people who have also taken a naturalistic approach to fighting off this "silent killer." If others can do it-so can you.

If this article provided you with some insight into the dangers of diabetes, then you surely need to make an informed decision as to what steps to take next.

You will need more information to begin your battle with diabetes. Much more information that reveals just how to go about it, a step-by-step plan of deliverance from diabetes is within your grasp.

Is It Healthy To Live On A 100% Raw Vegan Diet?

Many of you maybe familiar with raw food already.

For those of you, that are not, I'll give a short explanation.

Eating raw food means eating raw fruits, raw vegetables (especially greens), raw nuts and seeds.

This is a diet that, if done right, can bring great health results.

I know stories of people with diabetes, high cholesterol, cancer, arthritis, allergies and other diseases, who cured on raw food. Also for weight loss it turns out to be a great way of eating.

Of course changing from a standard diet to raw foods is not always easy. The body starts to detox, which can be hard sometimes, especially if you don't understand what is going on. It's best to have someone support you, who is experienced in this.

If you live on raw food already: is your diet balanced? Do you eat enough greens? Do you crave unhealthy foods? Do you sometimes overeat? Do you have any health issues?

If not, great, you are doing fine. If you don't feel totally balanced, take a closer look at your diet and your life (including your emotions). Maybe you need more greens. Greens are essential in a raw food diet, because of the minerals they contain. Or maybe you eat too much fat. Whereas 10% of your calorie-intake should be from fats, the standard American diet contains about 40% and raw food often up to 65%. This excessive fat intake causes all kinds of problems.

I was impressed by a raw food talk last week by Bendan Brazier. He lives on a 100% vegan raw food diet and is a professional Ironman tri-athlete. Brendan won the 2003 and 2006 Canadian 50km Ultra Marathon. He explains how raw food helps him to be a top-performing athlete. As he tells, training creates acidity in his body. By eating fresh raw food immediately after a training session, he alkalizes faster than his competitors. Because of this he is able to recover faster and can start training again sooner. This has made him better than all the others, who eat a standard diet and often stuff themselves up with junk food after a training or competition. He tells us, that especially after vigorous exercise, it is the most important time not to eat bad food, but to help your body recover and restore energy with fresh living food. For me it was really inspiring to hear Brendan talk about this.

If you want to know more about this, what to do exactly and how to change to a diet containing more raw food, visit our website at http://www.TheBestNaturalDiet.com/ The free E-book "The Seven Secrets of a Good Diet" will bring you more valuable information.

The Top Fruit For Diabetics is the Bitter Melon

A top fruit for diabetics is the popular Asian fruit bitter melon which has been gradually attaining popularity as a all natural method to maintain healthy blood sugar levels. The gourd includes potent insulin decreasing qualities that are thought to be very effective treatments for Diabetes. Present research suggest that Bitter Melon promotes blood sugar control by managing the way the body generates insulin. A few scientific studies report that this bitter gourd can improve the cells' uptake of glucose, promote insulin discharge, and helps make the effect of insulin more potent.

Natural doctors as well as scientists are concentrating on the benefits of this gourd with encouraging results. In Ayurvedic medicine, Bitter Melon is viewed as a "plant-insulin", plus some research has shown that, if given properly, it can act much like slow-acting animal insulin which signifies exciting potential for a far more sustainable, vegetarian, supply of insulin.

Even before the scientists began unlocking the plant's anti-diabetes attributes, the Bitter Melon had long been utilized as a traditional home remedy in numerous Asian nations to help manage blood sugar levels. Numerous diabetics regularly consume the fruit, which is easily prepared as part of their daily meals. Diabetics who have come to believe in this organic solution declare to be able to live a standard, energetic life by consuming the gourd as part of a healthy diet.

Nevertheless, to experience its benefit, the fruit will have to be consumed on a regular basis. This is where the Melon's natural bitter flavor frequently presents a issue. To resolve this, a few businesses are producing all-natural Bitter Melon teas and capsules, a more handy and more pleasant-tasting method to get the plant's wholesome benefits. These types of products keep the key compounds, while staying away from the bitter taste.

These days, much more Bitter Melon items are beginning to enter markets around the globe, providing diabetics a less dangerous, more natural way to manage their blood sugar levels. If you or somebody you know has diabetes or other blood sugar issues, you ought to think about utilizing Bitter Melon to assist you. It is actually accessible as a capsule in the event that you do not have access to the fruit itself.

Diabetes - A World Epidemic

Diabetes is becoming an epidemic! There is a huge increase in the number of people being diagnosed with diabetes on a world level, and this is not good news! The International Diabetes Federation shows that this disease affects more than 246 million people all over the world and almost 50% of those diagnosed with the disease are between the ages of forty to sixty. Until now, studies have greatly underestimated the problem. Based on these studies it is estimated that 380 million people will be affected in the next twenty years.

Type 2 diabetes now affects almost 6% of the world's population, and almost 80% of the total 6% happening in developing countries. The countries with the largest number of population affected by type 2 diabetes are in the Eastern Mediterranean, the Middle East, and then North America.

India is the leading nation with the highest number of people affected by diabetes type II. They estimate that there are over 40 million people affected with the disease. China follows with 39.8 million people and then comes the United States, Russia, Germany and others.

The disease has been gestating in the world population for fifty years, but now it is becoming even more widespread. People in the medical field have been warning everyone about the problem, but most of society has not been listening. In fact, most world governments have been ignoring the problem.

Today it is being felt most in India, the Middle East, China and the United States. Something has to be done and done quickly! Unfortunately there is not a miracle pill that can solve the problem. This is an issue that has to be looked into, because a lot of what causes diabetes is nutritional based.

We have known about the increase in Diabetes for 50 years, but haven't really done anything about this terrible disease. The cause is varied and has to do with environment, and social behaviours, alterations in lifestyle and in diet and physical activity are known causers of the disease.

In developing nation it seems to be more prevalent among poor communities. This is because families within these economic levels tend to buy more packaged drinks and low cost foods.

Don't be fooled! Diabetes is a deadly disease, and almost 3.8 million people die from its causes every year. This sheer quantity of deaths is the same as those that die from HIV/AIDS per year. It used to be that the disease was only attributed to the elderly, but now it affects middle aged people too, especially in developing nations. Diabetes is a world killer and accounts for loss of life and suffering by many, yet not very much is being done about it.

Lose Weight by Understanding Your Metabolism

We've all heard the simple diet formula for your metabolism:

"Take in fewer calories than you use and you'll lose weight."

"Take in more and you'll gain it."

It's a simplified view of a very complex subject, your metabolism. I'd like to take a moment and help you understand what your metabolism really is, and how it works.

There are three major components of your metabolism:

Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR)

This is the energy expended when you are lying at complete rest, in the morning, after sleep. Think of it as being pretty close to just sitting there and watching television.

You're probably thinking that BMR has to be a small piece of the puzzle, but it's not. BMR is by far the largest piece of the metabolic pie, accounting for 60 to 70 percent of total calories expended each day.

How is that possible? While you're sitting there, just a few of the many metabolic jobs occurring under the BMR umbrella are lung function, immune response, blood circulation, and tissue repair.

Three-quarters of variability in BMR is predicted by lean body mass. This includes bones and organs, which we can't change, and muscles, which we can. But as we get older, the challenge to build or even just maintain our current muscle mass becomes more difficult.

Thermic Effect of Food (TEF)

A second major component of your metabolism is one that most people have never heard of: TEF, the caloric "handling cost" of digesting, using, and storing food energy. Depending on your genes and dietary preferences, TEF can range from 10 to 15 percent of total daily metabolism. The next time you swallow a 1,000-calorie meal, in other words, you can console yourself with the fact that your body is actually netting only 850 to 900.

It takes a lot of metabolic work to convert raw food into forms of energy our bodies can actually use. In a simplified overview, the process begins when the digestive system breaks down nourishment into its constituent building blocks. Complex carbohydrates are reduced to simple sugars, fats to fatty acids, and proteins to amino acids.

Physical Activity

Your metabolism's third major component, and it's most variable, is physical activity. This includes planned exercise, as well as the voluntary and unconscious movements we perform in the course of our day. Generally speaking, activity of any sort makes up 15 to 30 percent of your metabolism.

There are, of course, exceptions. Manual laborers, as well as people that exercise frequently, can see their percentages skyrocket. Take Lance Armstrong and his fellow Tour de France riders, who have been shown to burn as many as 9,000 calories per day throughout the 3-week race. If you do the math that means they can burn almost 189,000 calories in that timeframe.

So now that you understand what your metabolism is, how can you work with it?

You can start by exercising, specifically weight lifting. Adding muscle to your body will raise your BMR.

Then focus on your diet. Every time you eat something ask yourself "How hard does my body have to work to digest this?" Think 1 carrot vs. 1 breadstick.

Finally, move around. Instead of taking the elevator one flight down, take the stairs. Instead of circling the parking lot for twenty minutes looking for a close spot, park in the back and walk the extra distance. Your goal is to try and burn as many calories as you can everyday.

Other things to consider.

1) Don't MISS meals

Your body responds by slowing your metabolism in order to hold on to existing energy stores. What's more, if the food shortage continues, you'll begin burning fat and muscle tissue, which will further lower your metabolic rate.

Instead of eating less, eat better and exercise more.

2) Just Say No

It's one of the ironies of antidepressants: They can boost a person's spirits while depressing his metabolism. This can also be the case with many other medications. So if you're taking something and gaining weight, ask your doctor about a possible switch.

Just please don't blame the prescription for making you eat the double-cheeseburger and larger fries.

3) Quitting Smoking.

Smoking is horrible for every part of you except your metabolism, which it tends to increase. This is probably a good result from a bad habit. The likely reason: Your body is forced to expend extra energy trying to detoxify itself from the chemicals. Unfortunately, this is a big part of why people gain weight after quitting. To help offset the metabolic dip, exercise and chew a combination of Nicorette and Jolt gums. Research in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that people who chewed nicotine gum (2 milligrams) spiked with 100 mg caffeine experienced a 10 percent increase in metabolism.

Foot Care for Diabetics

If you have diabetes then you are at increased risk for serious foot complications. Elevated blood sugar levels causes impairment of blood circulation in the legs and feet. To heal an injury requires a higher then normal blood flow to the injured area. This increased blood flow in not always available to those with diabetes.

Without proper blood flow the injury can become infected and that infection can spread up the leg. Non-healing diabetic ulcerations are the major cause of leg, foot and toe amputations. The best preventive measure you can take is to take care of your feet to prevent injury to them. Listed below are guidelines to prevent foot injury and reduce the chances of complications from diabetes.

1. Follow your doctor's instructions and take care of your diabetes. Keep your blood glucose within a good range.

2. Inspect the insides of your shoes daily for foreign objects that could cut or irritate your feet.

3. Don't wear sandals with thongs.

4. Check your feet everyday. Look for cuts, blisters or swelling. If required see you doctor to address anything found.

5. Wash your feet every day in warm water; be sure to dry between your toes.

6. Keep your skin soft by rubbing a thin coat of lotion over the tops and bottoms of your feet but don't put any lotion between the toes.

7. Try to change to a different pair of shoes each day of the week.

8. Gently smooth corns and calluses away or see your doctor to have them removed before they turn into something more serious.

9. Be active every day. Keep moving this will help to keep the blood flowing.

10. Keeps the blood flowing to your feet by elevating your feet when you're sitting? You should also wiggle your toes and move your ankles up and down for several minutes three times each day.

11. Don't smoke.

12. A daily foot massage will help to keep the blood circulating.

13. Don't cross your legs for long periods of time.

14. Protect you feet from the cold and hot.

15. Wear shoes and socks at all times to protect them from injury.

16. Trim your nails straight across.

17. Do not soak your feet in water unless instructed to do so by a doctor. This can cause macerated skin which can break down more easily.

18. Don't wear wet shoes. If your feet get wet in the rain change them as soon as you can and dry your feet.

19. Do not use any medications such as iodine or corn removal products unless instructed to do so by your doctor.

20. Contact your doctor immediately if you have any injury to your foot. Even a minor injury can develop into something more serious if not treated correctly.

These guidelines are essential for all diabetics to follow to prevent foot injury and potential consequences.

Diabetics - Add Years to Your Life by Reversing Diabetes

Has medical science been asleep at the switch?

I was stunned when my wife Margie learned that she was pre-diabetic. Does this mean a lifetime of drugs and insulin therapy that two family friends endured? Would it mean a greatly shortened life? The answer to these two questions has been a flat-out NO! One friend was diagnosed with diabetes many years ago. He is currently on kidney dialysis and suffered through two amputations of one leg--diabetic complications, and his healthcare providers are debating about removing the foot from the remaining leg.

The other friend was afflicted with diabetes coupled with obesity. He had a fondness for sugar-loaded soda pop that he used to wash down boxes of candy bars. His doctor's scale only read as high as 350 pounds so we really don't know how much he weighed when he died at age 68.

A No Sugar, Low Carb Diet, and No Needles

Margie quickly decided on a course of action. No drugs or insulin shots were included in her plans (she hates needles). She worked out a strict no-sugar, very low carbohydrate diet. She began regular workouts at the gym. The results were nothing short of a miracle-after about four months her blood sugar was back to the normal range and is holding steady. One amazing side effect to the diet was losing nearly 50 pounds. Her dress size is now a size 6, and she is giving away her "fat clothes," which are mostly size 18.

Was It A Miracle?

But we have come to learn that there is nothing miraculous about her cure. Thousands of documented cases just like Margie's prove-contrary to currently accepted medical theory-that diabetes is incurable. This is only a half-truth. Diabetes is incurable when drugs and insulin therapy is used to treat the "symptoms."

Thank you Dr. Bernstein!

Dr. Richard Bernstein, a respected member of the medical community, was recently quoted in an article published by the National Institutes of Health. He wrote, "How long can we as a profession afford to keep our heads in the sand regarding the benefits of low carb diets for diabetics?" It is interesting to note that Dr. Bernstein had been receiving insulin therapy since he was 12 years old.

So what is our government doing to get the word out? Where is the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) doing about a disease that is reaching epidemic proportions? Here's what one authority says, "The thing that bugs me is that people think the Food and Drug Administration is protecting them -- it isn't. What the FDA is doing and what the public thinks it's doing are as different as night and day." - Dr. Herbert L. Ley, former Commissioner of the FDA.

So all you need to do is go on a no sugar, low carb diet and you'll get well-Right? Well that is just part of the story. At the link below you'll learn about a microbiologist's irrefutable discovery that now pinpoints the actual cause of diabetes. A report entitled, "How To Reverse Diabetes Now" will help you to plan your recovery with step by step instructions written in a very non-technical, uncomplicated manner. Here you will get the facts and direction you need to make informed decisions to live a long and healthy life.

The Diabetics Diet

There are mainly two types of Diabetes: Type 1 is insulin dependent, whereas Type 2 is not. Both of these diseases elevate blood sugar levels; however Type 2 is not a disease to a persons' immune system. People with Type 2 Diabetes can control the disease, and in cases they can even reverse it. They may do this by combining exercise with appropriate dietary habits, and suitable weight control.

There is no proven miracle diet for diabetics, but if you suffer from Type 2 Diabetes, then the following article highlights some simple tips that you can add to your daily schedule so that you stay as healthy as you possibly can. The only diet that you really need to follow is proper nutrition. Most people have little experience with sticking to healthy diets', but once you make the initial effort, it will automatically become a part of your lifestyle.

It is best to follow the Food Pyramid, paying close attention to carbohydrate intake. Another thing that Diabetics must do is to create a standard meal schedule, and learn to control their portions.

Bread, Cereal, and some vegetables contain Starch. Starches are allowed in small quantities in your diet, but only as long as these quantities are controlled.

You must remember to eat at least 5 fruits and vegetables everyday. You can easily do this by snacking on a fruit at any point of the day, or by including vegetables in your dinner. If you want to hide your veggies, stir fries, soups, and chili can act as the perfect cover for your purpose.

This next one may surprise you, but you can still eat sweets with Type 2 Diabetes. The secret is limiting your intake. Stick to eating sugars or sweets only once or twice a week. You can cut down your sweet intake by halving a dessert.

Put as many soluble fibers as you can into your diet. Both, fruits and vegetables include these. Soluble fibers essentially slow down, and eventually reduce the amount of glucose absorbed from the intestines. Legumes have the greatest quantities of soluble fibers, and are also immensely helpful in keeping blood sugar levels in check. Insoluble fibers work as intestinal scrubbers, cleaning the lower parts of the intestinal tract.

Getting in touch with a dietitian to put together a good diet for you is probably the best thing that you can do for yourself. Regularly going back to them is a sure shot way of ensuring that the diet plan set is perfect for you? Each individual is different, and so this will make sure that you are getting the best results for your efforts. A dietitian profession is to take into account your weight, body type, medication, lifestyle, food preferences, allergies, etc to create a plan that will best suite you.

With Type 2 Diabetes, it is also very important that you maintain a healthy weight. Excess body fat increases the work your body has to do in order to produce and to use insulin. Dropping 10 or 20 pounds will greatly help your blood sugar levels.

There is no doubt that it will take some getting used to, but the overall results will be worth all the effort that you put into it.

I like to share my research so that diabetics could have a sweet life after their illness. The problem that people with diabetes is that most of them lack knowledge about it.

The Healing Power of Trees

During fall, it almost becomes a national past time to appreciate trees, especially in the northeast where they fully display their glory in brilliant techno color. Personally, I'm a year round tree hugger and proud of it! There is something very special about walking in the woods, or entering the silent sanctuary of a pine grove, or just sitting in the cooling shade of a tree's expansive branches. I find trees both majestic yet comforting, elegant yet solid, enduring yet ever changing. When I surround myself with trees, my breathing becomes deeper, all my senses are satiated, and I feel peaceful and grounded.

The Japanese have a special word for this feeling 'shinrinyoku' or 'forest bathing.' What a wonderful poetic image, 'bathing' in the refreshing atmosphere of the woods. The Japanese have also accumulated some hard scientific data on the physical benefits of 'forest bathing.'

In 2004, Japan's National Land Afforestation Promotion Organization conducted an experiment on the healing effects of forests. The study compared the physiological benefits of walking in the city with walking in one of Japan's few remaining old leaf forest. They found concrete evidence that a forest stroll had beneficial effects on blood pressure, heart rate, and the immune system. Their findings also detected an increase in the intracellular anti-cancer proteins. This boost in activity of the natural killer cells that fight cancer sometimes lasted for as long as thirty days. They also discovered that walking in the forest decreased the blood glucose levels of diabetic patients. And that people who even just viewed forest scenery for twenty minutes had a 13% lower blood concentration of the stress hormone cortisol.

While this evidence of the physiological benefits of nature is ground breaking and exciting, the psychological benefits have also gained long over due recognition in recent years with the relatively new field of Eco- Psychology. The basic idea of Eco-Psychology is that humankind's disconnect with nature and its renewing rhythms are a central contributing factor to most emotional woes. The mind which has been shaped by the modern world is readily comforted by the wider natural world from which it evolved.

Eco-psychology has three basic premises. First, there is a deep reciprocal relationship between humans and nature. Second, the separation of humans and nature leads to suffering for both the environment and for people. And third, realizing the connection between humans and nature is mutually healing.

As a Life Coach and Retreat Leader, I have always thought of nature as an essential partner. My preferred method of one on one coaching of "Walk and Talks" is done outdoors. And my retreats are held at eco-resorts, national parks, and arboretums. Being fully present in nature has a wonderful way of centering a person. And the natural world is always full of metaphors that help put life into perspective.

So,the point of all this information is to get outdoors! Enjoy this wonderful autumn weather. You will feel better physically and emotionally if you take the time to reconnect with nature. And you will probably become a better steward for the world because of it.

Diabetics, Are Acids Eating You Up? High Acidic Foods Can Turn Off the Insulin

Microbiologist and scientist, Dr. Robert O. Young made an astonishing discovery. Conducting research in conjunction with the Johns Hopkins Medical School, Dr. Young was looking for the causes of disease. Not only did he discover the cause of diabetes, his findings are providing the key to unlocking the real causes of a host of other ailments.

Dr.Young found that the reason the pancreas stops manufacturing insulin that carries glucose to our body cells, and why sometimes the cells refuse to accept the energy-giving glucose, is because of the high acidic content in the blood. He believes that if we reduce the acid intake from the foods we eat, or neutralize these acids by eating foods with high alkalinity, better health will be the outcome.

Good health grows on trees!

These discoveries sent shockwaves through the scientific community. But the major drug companies took little notice. Why? Because the drugs they manufacture for the treatment of myriad illnesses including diabetes are a multi-billion dollar business. We can't have people curing themselves by increasing their intake of fruits and vegetables, now can we. The drug companies can't patent something that grows on bushes and trees.

Numerous sources suggest that green vegetables assist significantly in restoring good health. Many plant foods have a cleansing and alkalizing effect on the body, but processed and refined foods (including fast foods) often increase the levels of acidity and unhealthy toxins. Medical science is slowly beginning to recognize the devastating effects of excess acids in the body, since they appear to be the underlying cause of many diseases.

What is acidic in nature may not be inside your body

Where a degree of confusion exists is the fact that some foods, like many citrus products and tomatoes are acidic in nature but become alkaline when we eat them. Today many people maintain a diet primarily comprised of acid-forming foods, such as sugar, animal meat, some dairy products, breads, etc. rather than green plant foods. While only a very few fruits vegetables are acidic when eaten, most animal meats are.

So is this article suggesting you become a vegetarian? NO WAY! But how many overweight, diabetic vegetarians do you know?

Early on it was stated here that we should reduce acid intake or neutralize acids by balancing them with alkaline foods. Here are a few alkaline foods that may already be in your diet: Asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, cucumbers, beets, lettuce, collards, spinach and more.

If this article opened your eyes to new and important discoveries, ones your doctor may still not know about, then I urge you to get all the facts available. In order for you to make an informed decision about how to proceed from this moment on, learn all you possibly can. You see, there really is a light at the end of the tunnel.

The Importance of Combining a Cardiovascular Workout and Strength Training For Diabetics

Before I was diagnosed having diabetes, I don't really exercise regularly as now. I exercise only when I do feel I like it. For me exercising means that it would strengthen my body, most of my exercises are strength training. I don't want cardiovascular workout as it is too time consuming for me. With strength training I could sweat easy with little time to spare.

This has been my exercise routine for most of my life and I couldn't continue with it since it puts too much pressure on my muscle. I could only keep it up for two months or less and then I would not workout for months. After that I would feel that I am feeling weak again and start to get back to my old routine. The process goes on until I felt that my body is stronger again.

I was doing some workout at a nearby Gym when I started to feel weak; immediately after I got home I told my mother and she said that I should have my blood sugar tested. It was this time that I have known that I have diabetes. Upon knowing this I tried to be active by doing some strength training. But it was too hard for me since my body is weaker than before.

Two months had passed and I have grown tired of the exercise routine. This has caused my blood sugar to rise fast. To fight this I was forced to take up medication in the form of metformin. Although it had helped my blood sugar to become low, it is still not enough because my blood sugar weren't dropping lower than 200. It was this time that I thought of buying the body slender, a work out machine which is intended to burn those extra pounds all around your body.

Together with my new exercise machine and some strength training I manage to control my blood sugar to 100+. Up to now, I am not see my blood sugar to rise more than 100+. This is where I got the conclusion that combining cardiovascular workout and strength training is the best exercise program for someone with diabetes.

I like to share my research so that diabetics could have a sweet life after their illness. The problem that people with diabetes is that most of them lack knowledge about it.
